I Need Your Help For the March Monthly Stitch Challenge

Yep. Miss Bossy Patterns over at the Monthly Stitch has a challenge for March--yes, next month, that requires your help.

March's sewing challenge is to pick an unused pattern from our stash and sew it up. Wow. I have a lot to choose from.

Oh, but that is just too easy. Miss Bossy Patterns is throwing in a a twist. I am to choose three or more patterns and have you vote on which I am to sew.

At first I didn't like the idea. I will have to let someone else tell me what to do.

But then, I love the idea, I don't have to keep deciding.

But then, I have no control.

I have decided that since my pants are beginning to sag like a teenage boy, I need to make some replacements. So, I've limited the choices to one category.

I do have a favorite, but I'm not telling you.

Well here are the choices:

Burda 7863
This is a jean type pant.
I would make it in a dark denim.
McCall's 6707
This is pants with a side panel.
This would be made in a twill or
bottom weight woven.
Simplicity 1696
This is a jean type pant that is adjusted
by body type. I have never used
an Amazing Fit pattern.
McCall's 6440
This is a slim pant that is fitted to an
individual's body. I have never made
a Palmer Pletsh pattern.
This would be made in a twill or
bottom weight woven.

So there are the choices. I will announce the winner on March 1st.

Which pattern should I sew for the Monthly Stitch March Challenge?

  1. Hi Annette, I just found your blog from Pattern Review. Love your LWD! And I voted for M6440 because I've had very good results using that pattern. It took some time to get a just-right muslin, but it has now become my TNT for skinny jeans. I've lost count how many times I've made it up!

    1. Thank you for the compliment on the dress. It feels fun to wear, but structured enough to feel a little sophisticated.
I actually had some fabric for the M6440 and had it ready to start. Of course someone else needed something and it was set aside.
I'm glad to hear about your success.

  2. What a great challenge for March!! I don't think you have anything to worry about, they all look like great patterns. I voted for the Amazing Fit, only because I want to sew them as well, and have heard good things about the fit of these. Good luck!

    1. I liked the idea of fitting them. I like a good pattern that teaches, unless I just want a quick sew for instant gratification.

  3. That was tough. Some great choices there. My two favorites are the McCalls patterns. I notice when I voted, that I'm not alone there. ;-)
Can't wait to see what you make.

    1. You are in Mr. Toad's camp. He like the two, but is lean towards the Fashion Star.

  9. I was interested in hearing your perspective on the Palmer Pletsh pants. The Amazing Fit would be my second choice. It would be nice to know how these really work. Good luck!

    1. If they don't win, I hope to eventually get to them. I need new pants! I looked at the directions and they were long, so I put them away for a quick sew a couple years ago.
